It’s often challenging to find Black Men hair care products that fit your hair type. We’ve got you covered!
Your hair plays a role in your appearance. As a man, you must have good grooming habits. If you don’t have this, your hair will look unkempt, and it would be best if you didn’t lose face value.
Black men have issues with fragile hair, dryness, and everything in between.
What’s my hair type?
As you know, black hair requires a lot of maintenance.
- Straight Hair (Type 1): It may be coarse, thin, or thick. It quickly falls and doesn’t wave and tends to get oily too.
- Wavy Hair (Type 2): Your hair is relatively straight, and it has a tousled texture with an undefined wave as well.
- Kinky Hair (Type 3): Most known as afro-textured hair that forms very tight and small curls right from the scalp
- Coils (Type 4): This hair requires careful hands. It may have an S-shape as well and needs a lot of moisturization.
How to maintain your Black hair type
Avoid Dandruff

POPPY AUSTIN PURE ARGAN OIL
$23.00
There comes a time in a man’s life where you cannot resist the urge to scratch your hair. In some cases, dandruff may reveal you’re not moisturizing and conditioning your hair correctly.
If you shampoo your hair a lot, the natural oils needed for moisturization washes out; hence, your scalp may become itchy or flaky.
If You engage in activities that make you sweat, your scalp gets dirty quickly. Make sure you shampoo and rinse thoroughly.
Using too much shampoo may hurt your hair

SCOTCH PORTER – HAIR WASH
$11.99
It’s okay to use shampoo; however, do not rely on it for long term usage. Most products contain sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). For the Black man, the ingredient dries your scalp leading to your hair feeling brittle or hard. It would be best if you went for a sulfate-Free shampoo.
Also, don’t think of using petroleum-based products. Your hair would look greasy and dry out very quickly. Go for products containing natural oils and shampooing once or twice per week.
Lock in moisturize

SHEA MOISTURE MANUKA HONEY & MAFURA OIL INTENSIVE HYDRATION CONDITIONER
$11.99
Yes. Most of us still complain about our hair; sometimes, it’s too thick or too dry. Keep in mind; it may not be your shampoo. Your body may not be able to produce the natural oils needed.
If you’re looking to grow healthier hair, then you need to get a good conditioner. Try using a hydrating cream or a wash-out conditioner. If you can do this once a week, it could prevent breakage. Also, you can use a leave-in conditioner to help soften your hair.
Choose the right products
There are lots of products in the market today. Unfortunately, most of them do not have your interest at heart. Most of these products contain chemicals that may be harmful to your hair. It’s best if you go for styling creams, pomades, and balms.
If you prefer pomade, use water-based products to ensure and retain moisture in the hair—select styling creams with natural ingredients such as avocado and sweet almond.
Finally, you need to know what works for you. Not everything would fit your hair type. We hope our Black men hair care tips add value to your hair regimen.
