Learning how other people live their lives can be intriguing. It is important to be open-minded when traveling because we are all different people.
Antoine Wilson is a travel gem from North Carolina. He wears many hats as the oldest of 4 and the owner of A.D. Elite Travels, LLC., and Melanated safaris LTD. He is currently based in Miami.
My mother was like; you always advise on destinations and book tickets for people. Why don’t you turn it into a business?
Antoine developed a passion for the travel industry when he traveled with his co-workers and friends. He then became a solo traveler and started exploring new places, food, cultures, and so on. Antoine eventually became a travel gem, providing advice to travelers.
When I asked him why he started his own travel agency, he said his mama was the brain behind that. He said, “my mother was like; you always advise on destinations and book tickets for people. Why don’t you turn it into a business?
And that was how Antoine started his travel business. He took Mama’s advice and he never regretted taking that step.
Many people in the world today find answers to questions through travel. Some might even get an “aha” moment through their travel quest. The one thing that stands out for the travel gem, throughout his journey around the world is “culture”.
Antoine said learning how other people live their lives can be intriguing. It is important to be open-minded because we are all different. He also advises that travelers should not believe everything they see on TV about places. Your best bait is to go, see, and experience it for yourself.
Antoine said his favorite places in the world are Brazil, Portugal, and Africa. When did I ask him why Brazil? To my surprise, he said Brazil has the largest population of African descendants more than the United States. I realized how much of the world I am missing out on.
Antoine advised LGBTQ+ travelers to stay away from some African and middle east countries because they are not queer-friendly. It is always important to do your research before traveling to any destination.
My interview with Antoine Wilson ended with us giggling about part of the Middle East culture being indirectly gay because men are allowed to associate with men and women are allowed to associate with women.
